There are two sites directly related to Whimple. One is the village
website, www.whimple.net
the other is the Whimple History Society website, www.whimple.org
and there are opportunities to advertise on either or both of these
sites. Should you choose to advertise on the History Society site,
the revenue will go to the Society.
Maintaining a presence on the world wide web as a sole trader or small
business is becoming increasingly difficult due to the growth of directory
and shopping sites. One of the easiest and cheapest ways to achieve
a presence and a high search engine ranking is the use of reciprocal
links between sites or web pages. Both Whimple websites currently
have excellent rankings when a search on "Whimple" is carried
out.
For instance:
Lycos:
1 & 2 on page 1
AJtavista: 1 & 2 on page 1
Yahoo: 1 & 2 on page 1
Google:
2 on page 1
Wanadoo: 1 & 2 on page 1
Ask/Jeeves: 4, 5 & 6 on page 1
Use of the internet to
find local tradesmen or businesses is increasing rapidly and we often
find that people planning to move to an area will check out local
facilities and services via the internet prior to or on arrival.
If you are a local Whimple trader I must point out that it is
not my intention to divert advertising revenue from our excellent
"Whimple News".
